Friendship Adventure Review

It’s one of the newest children book that is a “Must Read.”

This book teaches young and old the values of Friendship. Wherever we go, whatever we do, and where we are at different stages of life. Having a friend is a treasure just like knowledge that no one can take away from us. Once we form a Friendship with anyone it’s for a Lifetime - when you invest time, energy, effort, and never ending support wether the situation is good or bad, that’s a True meaning of Friendship.

Everywhere we go, we make Friends. Bruno made friends everywhere he went. Yes, there were challenges along the ways but that didn’t keep him from moving along and having hope that each day brings another Adventure and a Chance to learn something New.

Don’t want to spoil it much more, you have to Read it for yourself, and you’ll be Glad you Did!

I ordered this book for my book loving 8 year old daughter. At first it seemed a bit of a long read for her but she managed to complete the book in about a few days. She loved Bruno’s adventure, meeting new friends but also mentioned he encountered some problems along the way. This book is definitely a keeper and will be passed on to her younger brothers. Highly recommended!

This is a charming story about overcoming fears and challenges. Bruno is a delightful character who finds true friends who support him and accept him just as he is. Bruno demonstrates resilience as he embarks on a great adventure. Along the way Bruno explores the Wookey Hole caves. This is a part of England that is new to me. The author paints a great picture of this part of England. Now I want to try some Wookey Hole cheese! Bruno and his friends demonstrate acceptance, patience, and kindness towards each other! I thoroughly enjoyed this sweet story and look forward to Bruno's next adventure!

This book has a lesson in every sentence for the kids. It talks about friendship perseverance patient how to overcome obstacles how to have positive attitude to be kind and how to talk to yourself so as to continue believing in yourself and follow your goals. It has many positive affirmations that could become the voice in the head of the kids for all the things that they want to achieve. It is fun and easy for the kids to understand and connect with the characters. It is also a good start for many many discussions. It is an example of how life can go i.e that it has the ups and downs but the way you see things makes all the difference. Definitely recommended. Great and pleasant reading.

This book was fabulously written and very engaging! My daughter’s teacher (and the author:) read it to her fourth grade class and they all loved it! We also ordered it as soon as it came out and read it together. Great lessons about overcoming obstacles and such adorable and lovable characters! Looking forward to the next one for sure!

Bruno sets out to find a friend and along the way learns lesson of kindness and adventure. We loved the English setting and learning about the caves. My grandson looks forward to more Bruno adventures as he said it says the chronicles! meaning more books to come. Great read.

Red the Dragon is the second book in the Friendship Chronicles series. These books not only tell a fun and imaginative story from the perspective of a mouse; they are also educational.

Bruno the mouse is the protagonist of the story. He met his friend Lady in the first book, The Friendship Adventure. Now in this book, Bruno and Lady are adjusting to life as a family. Lady is extremely kind and patient with Bruno, who seems inspired by a neurodivergent 1st or 2nd grade child. As Bruno asks questions and learns strategies, young readers learn alongside him.

As I read, it became clear that the author is a teacher, and that she has extensive experience working with students with diverse needs. Bruno uses a variety of strategies and tools throughout the story, many of which Lady has taught him and presented him with. A few that are mentioned:

- Breathing deeply and holding your breath for 7 seconds

- Using a thinking stone to concentrate

- Headphones to block out sounds to avoid overstimulation

- Rocking back and forth to soothe oneself (maybe not a strategy but definitely a trait of some neurodivergent people)

- Weighted blanket

- "Goggles" (glasses)

- Red putty for tactile and sensory needs

- Clapping out syllables to sound out difficult words

- Putting learning to a beat

- Call and response

- Figures of speech

Later, Lady and Bruno adopt a dog, Honey, who has impaired vision and is only able to see shadows. They use some strategies to help her as well:

- Braille

- Describing settings in detail

I LOVED the way Bruno has learned so many strategies that help him to be successful. This is an adorable story that would make a wonderful classroom read, particularly for teaching strategies such as those mentioned above. It could be helpful for students with ADHD or autism, and also for other students to understand some of the special tools that are made available to their classmates.

As to the actual story, I learned new things about the legends and history of Wales, and the story of Red the Dragon and his connections with Merlin and the knights of the round table. Bruno, Lady, and Honey learn an important lesson about not judging by appearances. It is full of imagination and relatable characters for young children. What a beautiful and creative book that would make a perfect read-aloud!

As a Speech and Language Pathologist and Mom I absolutely LOVE this book. Helps with understanding social situations and the use of tools for effective communication. The author Carole G. Barton has once again produced an engaging, unique and socially aware middle-grade book as part of her Bruno’s Friendship Chronicles featuring Bruno the mouse, Lady, and a surprise addition, Honey, the dog.

The author Carole G. Barton has once again produced a lovely middle-grade book as part of her Bruno’s Friendship Chronicles featuring Bruno the mouse, Lady, and a surprise addition, Honey, the dog. Honey cannot see well but learns things through Bruno and Lady’s eyes. They all go off on an adventure to seek out the powerful Red the Dragon in Llandudno Wales to learn about his ancient story. Red is known to have done some bad things and as Bruno thinks about Red’s tale, he takes pity on him describing him as a boiled egg - “hard on the outside, soft on the inside.” He believes Red is not all evil and goes all out to persuade others to show empathy towards Red. A beautiful story with messages of kindness, support, admitting when you are wrong, helping others, and most of all friendship. I love that the author brings in the learning of syllables and figures of speech into the dialogue and creates her stories around legends and places. Read to see whether Red the Dragon does saves the day or lives up to his bullying reputation and what could be next in this series…
